We are Larry & Gina McCarty and we love exploring Tennessee and all that it has to offer.

We used to find ourselves with a day off from work and wondered what to do. We wanted to try something new, fun, and exciting; but just didn’t know what to do or where to go. After a few hours of saying to each other “What do you want to do?” … “I don’t know. What do you want to do?”; we decided to start planning something to do in advance of our day off.

We started off slow and picked one site to visit. While there we talked with some locals who told of us another nearby site we should check out while we were in town. We visited that location and asked another local for a recommendation for lunch. They told us about a “hidden gem” that was off the beaten path. The food was delicious!

That’s how our first “day trip” began. We had so much fun, we decided that we should do at least one or two day trips every month.

We began planning our day trips in Tennessee and posted pictures from our day trips online. The Tap & Run in Nashville, Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, multiple places in Pigeon Forge, Portland, Paris, Athens … all in Tennessee!

Well, our friends began to say, “You two are always on the go and having so much fun. How do you know where to go and what to do?”

We told them about our commitment to do one or possibly two day trips a month. Many of the things we do are free or have a small cost associated with it and best of all … day trips give us something to look forward to.

We shared how we planned out our day trips and our friends asked if we would give them a copy of one of the day trips we had taken.

Fast forward to now.  We thought we would share our day trips online with everyone. The only catch is, we never did a website before and never did a blog before. So we are amateurs at this.

Please bear with us as we take this journey of learning how to design a website and blog our day trips.

We would love to hear your feedback on how we can do it better and most importantly, we would like to hear if you tried any of our day trip suggestions and how they worked out for you.
